MIRIA EU Project

Welcome to a new era of hygiene!

The MIRIA project – your invisible nano-protective layer against viruses, bacteria and germs!

Imagine surfaces that you touch every day – from door handles to handrails – actively helping to protect your health. This is not a distant vision of the future, but the goal of the MIRIA project. Using cutting-edge nanotechnology, innovative bio-based coatings are being developed that not only repel viruses and pathogens, but eliminate them on contact. These advanced solutions are designed to meet the challenges of our time and significantly reduce the risk of infections, including COVID-19.

The project brings together 15 companies from 8 countries, funded by the European Commission with 5.9 million euros. Südmetall is proud to contribute to safety in public spaces as part of this international consortium. Our vision is to create protective layers that are invisible but highly effective – a barrier that stops harmful germs and viruses before they become a threat. At the heart of our work is the proven ABACO coating technology, which has been providing reliable protection against pathogens for years and is the basis for our further developments.

An exciting event is coming up: On October 16-17, 2024, leading experts from science and research will gather at CEA Grenoble to discuss new prevention strategies. At this renowned research center, where tradition and innovation meet, groundbreaking concepts for preventing the spread of pathogens will be presented.
